OBJECTIVE:

Given this New York Times article and found photography, design publication that visually communicates the core concept of the article.

My Thoughts:

“An American In A Strange Land” follows the reflection of a former U.S. resident and journalist, Jim Yardley, as he returns to his home country after a decade of being away. He struggles to reconnect with the political and social climate as he covers the country, asking citizens across the political spectrum to share their point of view, and give insight into what political issues are really facing the people of the U.S.

Given the article, I chose to take a photojournalistic approach, and chose images that made the reader an active participant. Playing with scale, length of shot, as well as space, it was important to me to give the article the room to breathe and flow, while maintaining an academic air.
